This will prevent the program to launch at start up, if you want to open the program you can simply search the program and run it.

 Changing the power settings.

If you have set your PC on “power save” plan, you’re slowing the PC performance. The “power save” plan reduces the PC performance to save power. So changing the plan settings to “Balanced” or “High Performance” will be helpful boosting the speed of your PC.

To change the “Power Settings” open the Control Panel and navigate to “Hardware and Sound” > “Power Options”. To set the PC on “High Performance” select the down arrow which shows additional plans

Simply choose the settings from here. If you set the PC on “High Performance” then it will give you the best performance but will also consume a lot of power; “Balanced”    will give you a good performance and also not consume lot of power.

 Stop OneDrive from syncing

Microsoft cloud based storage “OneDrive” helps to save files and documents on cloud. It is also a helpful tool to backup all your important files if your Hard disk dies. OneDrive does this by syncing the local files on your PC to cloud which can also be a reason to slow

To do so, right click on the “OneDrive” icon in the notification are on your taskbar, select “More” button and look for pause syncing and select either 2 hours, 8 hours or 24 hours.

If you are still facing the issue you check Microsoft’s fix for OneDrive sync.

Turning off search indexing.

Windows search indexing helps you to quickly search files on your PC by indexing items on your Hard drive. To completely turn of search indexing go to services.msc in the Start search

Box. Open the Services window and look for “Windows Search” service. Double click on the service and select “Stop” and then restart your PC. This might slow down your search and also face slowness while searching mails on Outlook but you will notice the performance boost.  If you have got a Hard disk filled with unwanted programs or files you can consider deleting it. Also cleaning up your recycle bin might help. Windows 10 also has a built it tool to delete the temporary files which are created. Go to Settings > System > Storage and at the top, turn on the Storage sense. You can customize the settings and select the options when you want to delete the items in the recycle bin and also delete the items in download if you haven’t used them for around certain period of time.

You can also delete the previous versions or windows which will be taking a lot of space on your Hard drive. At the bottom of the screen check the box next to “delete previous version of Windows”. Storage Sense will delete the old version of windows Note that if you delete the old version you won’t be able to roll back to the previous version of Windows.

Disabling the Visual Effects.

Windows 10 has some nice animations and Visual effects. On the high end systems this usually don’t affect the performance, but on slower and old PC they can cause a performance slowness.

It is quiet easy to turn them off. Go to the start menu and search for sysdm.cpl and press Enter. On the system properties click on advanced tab and click Settings in the Performance section. A new window will open of the Performance Options. If you want to customize according to your need then you can always select the individual option whether to keep it turned ON or OFF.

However it is best to keep the settings on “Adjust for best performance” and windows will turn off the effects and you can see the difference right away.

Uninstall Bloatware.

Most of the cases of slowness is because of the bloatware installed on your system, which consumes a lot of resources to run. First step is to uninstall all the free Anti-Virus software which states to protect you. Always install a licensed Anti- Virus and never use any free products as it can slow down the PC considerably. However it is not compulsory to install Anti-Virus on your Windows 10 PC, as it already has its own Anti-Virus known as the Windows Defender. You can use the Windows Defender to scan for malware and anti-virus, and this might do the job pretty well.

Defragmentation of your Hard Drive

Disk Fragmentation helps increases the data access speed by rearranging the files stored in a disk. When your files are stored in one place, they load faster and the whole system works fast. Your PC sorts and locates files much easier after defragmentation. The older the Hard Drive the more the Hard drive can become fragmented which causes your system to slow down. Windows 10 has a built in defragmenter which helps you to defragment your Hard Drive.

To do defrag, search for defrag in the start menu. A new window will open from which you have to select the drive which you want to defragment. Select the drive and click Optimize.

You can also automate this process by scheduling the time by clicking on Change settings.

 Disable Transparency effects

In Windows 10 PC you can also disable the transparency effects of the PC.  It consumes a lot of resources to create the effects and by disabling it you can make a difference in the performance of your PC.

To do so, Open Settings and choose Personalization and choose Colors. Scroll down to transparency effects and disable it.

Restarting you PC

Here’s one solution which fixes most of the issues automatically without doing anything but restart. Doing restart helps to clear the running process and application on the RAM. It also kills the application which you have ended but keeps running in the background.

So do try these steps and you’ll definitely have got a faster PC without any issues. Do comment below which method worked for you to help resolve the slowness issue.
